Orangutan Houseboating Tour

DAY 1 : Airport – Kumai – Proboscis Tour – Tour Houseboat

Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport you will be picked up by your guide and drive to Kumai for 20 minutes board on the boat. The boat is a traditional Klotok wooden river boat about 17m by 3.5m with roof upper deck where you can view the rain forest as it glides by. The guide's team includes the boatman, a cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon we will slowly explore the quite river by the klotok while observe the wildlife such as long noses monkey, long tail macaque, birds along the riverside. Dinner and overnight on the boat. simple mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar - helpful guides and boatmen.

DAY 2 : Camp Leakey – Tour Houseboat

After breakfast board the klotok to travel up river for about 2½ hours boating and then up a side creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rain forest and also known as research center for Orangutan. Trekking through tropical rainforest searching for wildlife, wild orangutan, birds and other rainforest animals as well as tropical jungle plant. Back to the boat for lunch then witness feeding time at 14.00 pm for old rehabilitation orangutan given additional foods. Overnight on the boat will provided on the boat, overnight on houseboating.

DAY 3 : Tour Houseboat - Pondok Tanggui - Pesalat - Tanjung Harapan - Houseboat

After breakfast board the klotok to travel up the river for Pondok Tanggui, the rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans, see feeding time at 09.00am. Afterward continuing the trip to Pesalat replantation camp, See the process of replantation project or take this opportunity to hike at forest. In the afternoon visit Tanjung Harapan rehabilitation center and witness an other feeding time at 15.00. Free afternoon program, we could visit village near by the park. Overnight on the boat . (Free additional program : we could arrange the night walking on this place searching for nocturnal animal or glowing mushroom or just enjoy down the river at nipah palm mangrove observing fireflies)

DAY 4 : Camp Leakey 2nd Visit - Houseboat

After breakfast board the klotok second visit at camp leakey. Camp leakey has around 40 trek deep to the forest and in habited by both wild orangutan and rehabilitant orangutan. your second visit at the camp may have big opportunity to observe more wildlife.

DAY 5 : Tour Houseboat – Kumai – Airport

Free morning program on the boat, then boating down the river back to Kumai. Enjoy breakfast at our Klotok. Take a leisurely boat ride before returning to Pangkalan Bun airport through the port city of Kumai. Revive all your senses and let them retain the magic of Tanjung Puting National Park. Listen to the sounds of Kumai all day loudspeakers emanating from tall buildings where swift nests are being commercially harvested. Direct transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination.
